Sick Babies, 93’ Ford Bronco, & Sibling Dinner
Happy Monday!! This one is going to be a little life update from this weekend. As I’m typing, I just got back from taking the kids to the doctor’s office. Both kids have been sick all weekend. Welp! Shep ended up having an ear infection. Please add them both to your prayer list! Lately, Mondays have been my favorite day of the week! I’ve realized that I do a lot of things that fill my cup spiritually on Mondays. Today I listened to Devin Cordle’s new episode with Kaci Driggers on the The Salty Podcast. It was so good ya’ll! If you haven’t started listening to The Salty Podcast you should because you’re missing out on some amazing testimonies! Devin posts new episodes every Monday. Another uplifting podcast I’ve been listening to is Sarah Joy’s The Good Day Podcast! After I put the kids to bed, I like to rewatch Sunday’s sermon and really journal. My journaling is not in any way fancy! I use a cute notebook and whatever pen I can find. Does anyone else feel like you’re in a rush or people are reading over your shoulder when you try to journal during the sermon in church? Maybe it’s only me?
If you saw my Instagram stories Sunday morning, you saw that The Salty Haven Blog went live!! Pinch me! I’m still in awe that I actually did the dang thing! I saw on Mallory Ervin’s Instagram stories that she was explaining what dopamine dressing is and how colors we wear can truly impact our mood. This is totally true. A dopamine release can happen from something as simple as smelling fresh chocolate chip cookies baking. It got me thinking yesterday…is dopamine blogging a thing?! I was bummed about not going to church but it was obviously necessary. We colored with the kids most of the morning and then finally had our sibling dinner from Christmas-time. Instead of exchanging presents on Christmas, we began having a sibling dinner. This year we went to Bella’s Italian Cafe in Tampa. Highly recommend! We indulged in too much pasta, good drinks, and better company. I found my new fave alcoholic beverage. Disclaimer: I rarely drink and I don’t even casually drink at home. It’s one of the simplest cocktails, but it was so refreshing and light! It called French 75. A French 75 cocktail includes gin, champagne, muddled lemon or lemon juice, and simple syrup garnished with a lemon slice. We were discussing this topic at dinner: is the Asian flush a real thing? According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism, alcohol flush reaction is an alcohol intolerance- not an “alcohol allergy”- and is a condition that causes people to metabolize alcohol less efficiently. It’s more common among people of East Asian ancestry. Well, there ya go.
We had the eeriest fog on Saturday morning. It was so dense. Jesse’s dad, Troy, and Papa postponed their morning plans until the fog cleared up so the guys moved Jesse’s 1993 Ford Bronco Eddie Bauer Edition over to our house. It has been at Nena and Papa’s house for some time. Side note, thank you for participating in guessing the year of the Bronco on my Instagram stories-no one guessed it! Ada lended a helping hand in washing the Bronco and it already looks years newer!! They got some of the windows and the starter working. We’re so excited that the Bronco is getting some much needed TLC after sitting for so long and that Jesse gets to restore it with his Dad and Papa. It makes the process so much more special that they’re getting to do it together. It just so happens that Target has the cutest Ford Bronco Tees right now for girls and women!! I’ll link them below!
